Give the Gift of Camping
and Enjoy Great Lakes, Great Times and the Great Outdoors

If you're looking for last-minute holiday gift ideas, give the outdoor enthusiast on your shopping list Great Lakes, Great Times and the Great Outdoors with a 2006 campsite reservation at a state park or recreation area.

Camping reservations are available for spring in many locations. Contact the call center at (800) 447-2757. You must provide the names of who will be occupying the site, the size of the camping equipment, desired location and dates.

"You'll be giving your family and friends automatic memory makers," said Ron Olson, chief of the Parks and Recreation Division. "It's an excellent way to introduce new people to the Great Outdoors!"

State Park Motor Vehicle and Boating Access Permits are available online at the DNR e-store: http://mi-mall.michigan.gov or by calling (517) 373-9900. Packaged together, the MVP and a reservation provide a complete recreation experience.

Thirty-five state parks and recreation areas will have the same nightly rates as in 2005. Budget-conscious campers should put these locations at the top of their gift list:
