E-M:/ Code Orange PM 2.5 Pollution Alert -- Southeastern Michigan

Enviro-Mich message from "Alexander J. Sagady" <ajs@sagady.com>

Michigan is in the second day of a PM 2.5 air pollution episode with
MDEQ Air Quality Division monitoring showing Code Orange
conditions in Southeastern Michigan for the second day.

Dearborn is dirtiest place in Michigan at 1:10 PM EST at
60.1 micrograms/cubic meter- 24 hour average.....just under the code
Red level of 65 micrograms/cubic meter.

One of EPA's new, proposed standard would lower the level of
the standard and Code Red level to 35 micrograms/cubic meter because
of evidence that PM 2.5 air pollution causes serious respiratory
and cardiac effects.

More information at:

Imagery at EPA's Airnow site shows that Southeastern Michigan,
an area near Green Bay WI and a site in the Southern California
desert near the Mexico border to be the most PM 2.5 polluted places
in the United States at this hour.
