Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant Program
Workshop Scheduled for Feb. 6 in Monroe

The Department of Natural Resources today announced a workshop in Monroe to assist communities in southeast Michigan in the preparation of grant applications for the 2006 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund program. This program provides funding for acquisition and development projects for public outdoor recreation.

The Feb. 6 workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Monroe Community College, Administrative Building A - Rooms 173 A and B, located at 1555 S. Raisinville Road in Monroe.

The focus of this workshop will be on preparing a successful application for 2006. Topics will include applicant and project eligibility, distribution of funds, preparing applications and attachments, project selection and grantee obligations. DNR staff will be available at all workshops to answer questions. The workshop is free and preregistration is not required.

Participants are encouraged to notify Grants Management if they plan to attend the workshop to ensure adequate materials are available. Participants also are encouraged to bring potential application ideas for discussion at the workshop.
 
The primary deadline for acquisition and development applications is April 1, 2006. Additional acquisition applications only will be accepted by Aug. 1, 2006. Grant application materials are available on the DNR Web site at www.michigan.gov/dnr-grants or by contacting Grant Management at 517-373-9125.
