Position Announcement

 

Communications Specialist

 

The Michigan Environmental Council (MEC) seeks a full-time Communications Specialist to write, edit and proofread a variety of documents and publications and provide other support to the director of development and communications and other staff.  

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Write, edit and proofread a variety of documents and publications, including MEC Annual Report, Environmental Briefing Book, letters of inquiry to foundations, grant proposals, progress reports, opinion-editorials, correspondence and public relations material
  • Assist in preparation and editing of bi-monthly Michigan Environmental Report newsletter
  • Draft and proofread content for MEC website
  • Respond to other communication needs as determined by director of development and communications

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Design and layout experience helpful
  • Commitment to environmental and public health

 

Compensation

 

Commensurate with experience.
