Since they are non-native why is the state of Michigan
stocking them? What kind of impacts do they have on
native fish, insects and plants in aquatic ecosystems.
That they have been stocked in Michigan for a long
time does not necessarily mean that they do no harm
and are acceptable to have around. The state of
Michigan once planted Russian Olive and Autumn Olive
for wildlife but that was an incredibly bad idea for
the native flora.
