E-M:/ Hartford Dairy

Enviro-Mich message from "Alex J. Sagady & Associates" <ajs@sagady.com>

I have placed the MDEQ report on the Hartford Dairy up on the
web at:

the most significant finding of the report:

"Overall, water quality throughout the Mill and Pine Creek watersheds is impaired by excessive concentrations of E. coli. Manure management activities of Hartford Dairy appear to be contributing to extreme increases in E. coli concentrations in Pine Creek during rainfall events. The Hartford Dairy operations are also likely contributing to significantly greater ammonia concentrations during rainfall events in Pine Creek. E. coli and ammonia concentrations downstream of the control site (Station 1) on Pine Creek at Stations 2, 3, and 4 during rainfall events were likely impacted by the manure management practices of Hartford Dairy. Although Hartford Dairy appears to be the likely source of elevated E. coli and ammonia concentrations, especially at Station 2 in Pine Creek, there were no documented discharges or runoff of pollutants from the facility or manure-applied fields during the course of the study."

I wonder if they operate any open tile inlets to tile fields on the land application
