Once Michigan House Republicans and blue dog Democrats get through 
relaxing CAFO water pollution control requirements to 
give slob agricultural operators the excuse that it was raining as 
they allow animal waste to flow into Michigan streams, rivers, wetlands, 
lakes and the Great Lakes, perhaps they'll also give a 
similar excuse for this problem.....

....Children near CAFO operations in an Iowa school within a 1/2 mile
of a CAFO operation were far more likely to have problems with 
asthma than a similar control school site not near such an operation.

I don't have access to the full journal article, but the abstract  indicates 
an adjusted odds ratio of 5.7 which appears different than what is 
indicated in the AP story.
