From WIMS Daily, July 7, 2006:
NAS To Release Evaluation Of EPA Dioxin Reassessment - Jul 7: The National Academy of Sciences, Division on Earth and Life Studies has announced a 1-hour public briefing on Tuesday, July 11 at 11 AM EDT for the release of Health Risks from Dioxin and Related Compounds - Evaluation of the EPA Reassessment, a new report from the National Academies' National Research Council. At the request of EPA, HHS, and USDA, the report evaluates EPA's 2003 draft "Reassessment" on the health risks from dioxin and related compounds in terms of its scientific robustness and clarity of all substantial uncertainties and variability for its ultimate use by regulatory agencies for risk management. NAS indicates that the report is not in itself a risk assessment, nor does it recommend exposure levels for regulatory consideration.
The open public briefing will be held in the Lecture Room of the National Academies building, 2100 C St., N.W., Washington, D.C. Those who cannot attend may listen to a live audio webcast and submit questions by e-mail at http://nationalacademies.org.
