The Watershed Center of Grand Traverse Bay
The Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City is seeking an Executive Director to provide leadership for its role in advocating for clean water in the Grand Traverse Bay. The Watershed Center is the only organization that advocates for water quality throughout the entire Grand Traverse Bay Watershed. It is the home of the Grand Traverse BAYKEEPER® program, responsible for advocating for the water quality of the Bay, and the BAYKEEPER® tug boat. Its leadership has produced the Grand Traverse Bay Watershed Protection Plan, funded through Clean Water Act grants and developed in collaboration with partner agencies, which identifies major threats to water quality and the comprehensive strategies to address those threats. In the last ten years, the Center has received $2.4 million in funding for restoration projects, beach monitoring, water quality research and monitoring, and educational projects.
Experience in nonprofit management is required. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership, fund development, relationship-building and communication skills and will represent the Center in its work with residents, government officials, and other agencies who share concern for water quality. Preference will be given to candidates with experience of significant responsibility in similar settings.
