Enviro-Mich message from Larry Nooden <ldnum@umich.edu>

The British Royal Society (a top world scientific group) has condemned
ExxonMobil for their disinformation campaign on global warming and other
antiscience/antisocial behaviors (Science 313 [29 Sept]: 1871 (2006). As
the economic damages begin to emerge, I expect they will be prime targets
for cost recovery for the same reasons the tobacco companies eventually had
to pay up for their misdeeds. Unfortunately, as with the tobacco issue, it
will be harder to get at all the complicit politicians who are enabling
this problem. Global climate change and several other environmental issues
have been getting better popular (outside the scientific community)
coverage in Europe than in the US.
