E-M:/ Sunday PM 2.5 Air Pollution Episode - Michigan/Wisconsin

====================================================
Michigan/Wisconsin Air Pollution Alert -- Sunday 11/26/2006 2 PM
====================================================

Michigan and Wisconsin are presently experiencing a PM 2.5
air pollution episode with several monitoring stations reporting
Code Orange (unhealthy for sensitive groups) in the last 24 hours
with the highest PM 2.5 in the United States today.

Note that the Code Orange level of 40.5 micrograms per cubic
meter reflects an older 24 hr average PM 2.5 air quality standard which is
being significantly revised lower in concentration in proposed
rulemaking and will ultimatley be considered unhealthy for everyone.

At 2 PM EST, a stationary front going from central Wisconsin
through northern Michigan is causing air stagnation conditions
with wind speeds of 0-2 meters per second over the northern
2/3rds of Michigan's lower peninsula and substantial portions of
Wisconsin.

Michigan

At 2 PM EST Sunday in Michigan,  Houghton Lake, Flint and Dearborn
are showing Code Orange conditions.   Dearborn has experienced
Code Orange PM 2.5 conditions nearly every day since 11/22,
the worst being on 11/23 and 11/22.

In the last 24 hours, Grand Rapids also had Code Orange PM 2.5;
Bay City and possibly Lansing will show Code Orange 24 hour
averages in a couple of hours.

Wisconsin

At 2 PM Sunday, Code Orange conditions are occurring at
Milwaukee, Madison, Mayville, Chiwaukee Prairie,
Waukesha and Devil's Lake Park, with the worst conditions
occuring at Madison.   Earlier, Code Orange conditions were
observed at Racine-Kenosha, as well as the Quad Cities area
in Illinois/Iowa and in Northeastern Iowa.   Green Bay is just
