PBS Independent Lens is releasing a video (unfortunately played at 
4-5 AM by WKAR and WTVS in Michigan) important for the 
environmental movement in the United States.   National release by PBS is 
scheduled for today, 11/28.

"Two Square Miles" tells the story about the citizen effort and the small town 
community reaction in the successful fight to keep St. Lawrence Cement from 
constructing a very large cement plant on the shores of the Hudson River
in Hudson, NY.   St. Lawrence Cement is a subsidiary of Holcim, which 
is headquartered here in Michigan in Dundee.

I haven't seen the video/DVD yet, but it might be a useful educational tool for other groups 
fighting in similar situations.

I'm proud to have served as one of the environmental consultants to 
Friends of Hudson in initial educational efforts in this fight and in 
working with FOH Attorneys and other consultants on permit challenge litigation.
