TRAVERSE CITY ? New owners at the Cherry Tree Inn on the Beach may have 
violated state and federal beach grooming requirements when they allegedly 
rolled bulldozers into East Bay to reshape the waterfront.

Officials from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. 
Army Corps of Engineers will be on-site this week to investigate the 
earth-moving activities.

Said Greg Reisig, "We're hopeful DEQ and the Corps of Engineers will take 
swift and decisive actions on this obvious violation as there were no valid 
permits for this excavation of coastal wetlands along the shoreline of Grand 
Traverse Bay."
