Wow -- somehow I missed this – does anyone
know the outcome?
Are the wells shut down for good?

ROMULUS -- Less
than a year after hazardous materials began being pumped
into controversial 4,500-foot-deep injection wells, the discovery of leaking
fluids has shut them down.
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality ordered the closure of two
wells on the 15-acre site owned by Environmental Disposal Systems Inc. after
a quarterly inspection in late October revealed one leaked and another
emitted an unusual acidic vapor, said Jim Sygo, deputy director of the
agency. On Friday, the DEQ issued a letter to the Bingham Farms-based firm
outlining its violations, Sygo said. Fines could follow, he said.
