E-M:/ AG Cox opposes Palisades sale

Enviro-Mich message from Gary Stock <gstock@net-link.net>

Signs of good sense:

LANSING, Mich. (AP) ? Michigan's attorney general said Monday that
he opposes Consumers Energy's proposed sale of the Palisades
Nuclear Plant near South Haven, arguing it would hurt ratepayers.

Residents and businesses that pay for electricity wouldn't save
any money until 2016 under the agreement, and those estimated
savings aren't guaranteed, said Attorney General Mike Cox.

"It's a phony deal," Cox said during a news conference.

He also questioned whether the sale would deplete funding needed
to decommission the plant and pay for cleanup in 2031, citing the
   cost to decommission other plants...

It don' matter how ya' git to the party -- just so'z ya' show up!

PS: the goofiest aspect, in case you missed it...

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said last week that it had
renewed the operating license of the Palisades plant for
   another 20 years, through 2030...

The best proof for a claim that terrorists are crazy or evil
would be to acknowledge that the White House is full of them
