Observing System Symposium: April 10-11

Attention Educators, Scientists, Commercial and Recreational Users of Great
Lakes Observing System (GLOS):

Join us in Traverse City, Mich., April 10-11 to hear nationally known
experts from ocean observing systems on the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and the
Pacific share their experiences and help develop ideas for the Great Lakes!

See www.miseagrant.umich.edu/glos for details on this important event,
sponsored by the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network, Grand Traverse Band
of Ottawa & Chippewa Indians, NOAA Coastal Services Center, COSEE Great
Lakes, and the GLOS Regional Association.

This symposium will educate key audiences in the Great Lakes region about
GLOS, including information about how GLOS benefits industries, businesses,
formal and non-formal educators, researchers and outreach professionals.
Join us as we:

* Initiate a "What is GLOS?" campaign
* Frame the Great Lakes in the national and international context of
observing systems
* Detail best education and outreach practices from existing ocean systems
(i.e., GoMOOS; COOLRoom; SEACOOS; etc.)

* Gather user needs data to assist in developing a strategic plan for GLOS
Education & Outreach activities. This information will be distributed via
powerpoint and video presentations via the Internet throughout the Great
Lakes region by the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network and GLOS.

* Provide an information foundation for a web-based survey of Great Lakes
needs and users

* Learn from presentations and discussion about best examples from other
observing system (Regional Associations) organizations and educational
programs (COSEE).

Registration is free for this event and encouraged by March 26. See
