Laury Hammel is the final speaker in this semester's UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development speaker series. Mr. Hammel will speak at MSU in 105 S. Kedzie Hall on Wednesday, April 11 at 7:30p.m.

Mr Hammel is author of the recently published Growing Local Value: How to Build Business Partnerships that Strengthen Your Community <http://www.bkconnection.com/ProdDetails.asp?ID=9781576753712>  and founder/owner the Longfellow Clubs <http://www.lonfellowclubs.com/>  with 12,000 members in Boston. In 1991 Mr. Hammel help found Business for Social Responsibility <http://www.bsr.org/>  and later with Judy Wicks, the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies <http://www.livingeconomies.org/> . Laury will speak on "Healthy Individuals and Healthy Communities - How Can Higher Education Help?". 

This event is free and open to the public thanks to the generosity of the MSU Office of Campus Sustainability, University Committee for a Sustainable Campus, CS Mott Group for Sustainable Food Systems, Residential Initiative for the Study of Environment (RISE), Sustainable Michigan Endowed Project(SMEP), Program in Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education, Center for Systems Integration and Sustainability, and Community, Agriculture, Recreation and Resource Studies.

Copies of his book will be available for purchase and for signing by the author.
