Just as the Farm Bureau does not speak for all farmers, The Home Builders Association does not come close to speaking for the majority of home builders. But just as in almost any industry it seems, there are the loudest and biggest mouths that represent a small, but wealthy minority. The home building industry, of which I have been a participant for over 25 years, is just another example of 'old school' mentality. They might as well be US car makers, coal power proponents, or the idiots who run factory farms, all who can make the case to themselves that short term wealth is better than long term sustainability.
The best thing you can do is make a quick call to your local HBA office and express your dissapointmen. And then make sure you know who your local 'green builders' are and try and steer business to them. This is not really a news story, its just more of the same mentality that happens to be on the front page today. Make the call, thanks.
