Upper Peninsula Michigan Friends -- MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Come to the Say NO to Kennecott Information Fair and Sulfide Mining Rally in the ballroom of UPFRONT and COMPANY on Tuesday, September 4th in Marquette.  UPFRONT is located one block south of downtown Marquette at 102 E. Main St.  There’ll be live music, a cash bar and inspirational speakers.  Environmental and Citizen groups opposing the proposed Kennecott Eagle Project Mine will host tables with information pertinent to this issue and any other work that they are doing.

Come learn why we think Kennecott should NOT be granted a permit to mine nickel and copper from beneath the Salmon Trout River, and what you can do to help.

5:30 to 6:30pm    Public Hearing Workshop - National Wildlife Federation, Michigan Environmental Council and Sierra Club will host a workshop outlining the issues and how to give effective public comment at the upcoming DEQ/DNR Public Hearings

6:30 to 9:30pm    Information Fair and Rally - Free and open to the public, this is an opportunity for all to get the information they need to understand the issues and importance of public participation in the DEQ/DNR Public Hearings taking place the following week.
