The Cool Cities Campaign: Cities across the nation are taking
action to stop the threats of global warming at a time when the federal
government is failing to act. By signing the US Mayors Climate Protection
Agreement, mayors are showing their commitment to reduce their cities emissions
to 7% below 1990 levels by 2012.
So far, 19
mayors in Michigan
have signed the agreement and are working towards meeting their goals by
increasing energy efficiency, supporting green vehicle transportation, and
investing in renewable energy. To learn more about the campaign and to
find out if your city has signed check out www.coolcities.us.
