The Northern Michigan University Chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific
Research Society, presents the
Sigma Xi 2007 Fall Lecture
The Wolves of Isle Royale
Dr. Rolf Peterson
Professor, School of Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences; Michigan
Technological University
Professor Peterson will present findings of the world's longest-running
study of predator-prey relationships in the wild, now approaching 50 years.
He will present highlights of his work at Isle Royale over the past 35
years, explaining how the research has helped mold public opinion about this
controversial predator. He will emphasize what we have learned from a
long-term approach that would never have emerged with short-term research
lasting just a few years.
November 6, 2007 7:00 p.m.
West Science 2904 (Lecture Hall B)
