RE: E-M:/ Michigan Environmental Council Capitol Update 10-19-07

You can’t stop kids with legislation.  You can only protect property owners and insurance companies against wrongful death litigation because they don’t have signage, throw rings, safety ladders, or life guards.

Admittedly, it’s the parents’ responsibility, but their parents aren’t always on site when these things happen.

Dumb idea for a law.

For context, the legislation is in response to drownings that have occurred in Lake Mich by kids who are "invincible" in spite of the many warnings and postings along these piers.

SB 629: A bill to prohibit jumping, diving, or swimming off any pier in the Great Lakes.

Who is the Senator sponsoring this bill?
