Great news reached Michigan citizens last April. U.S. Reps. John Dingell,
John Conyers and Mike Rogers were part of the overwhelmingly passed House bill
that would allow Michigan to stop 100% of the 4 million to 5 million tons of
Canadian trash dumped in Michigan landfills annually. Dingell also urged the
Senate to address the legislation quickly. This bill was then sent to the Senate
Environmental and Public Works Committee.
This bill has been languishing in the Senate committee, chaired by a fellow
Democrat, Sen. Barbara Boxer of California.
