Clean Water Action Endorses Dayne Walling
Mayoral Candidate Can Lead A Green Renaissance in Flint

FLINT, MI—The state’s largest grassroots environmental organization today announced its endorsement of Dayne Walling for Flint mayor in Tuesday’s elections.

“Dayne Walling’s redevelopment plan will bring Flint off the sidelines in green economic opportunities that recognize the value of a clean Flint River watershed, better parks, recycling, brownfield redevelopment and improvements to the city’s aging sewer infrastructure,” said David Holtz, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. “Integrating the Flint River into the city’s economic development strategy, putting in place more bicycle lanes and recreational trails are touchstones in a strategy to improve the quality of life for Flint’s families.”

In endorsing Walling, Clean Water Action’s Holtz noted that incumbent Mayor Donald Williamson didn’t respond to questions about his plans for the city as part of the organization’s endorsement process.

A native of Flint, Dayne Walling graduated from Michigan State University and went on to a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University. He worked on the executive staff of the Washington, DC mayor and founded the Flint Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing people together to create new resources and inspire new ideas to improve the lives of Flint's citizens.

With 205,000 members statewide, Clean Water Action is Michigan’s largest environmental organization. Founded in 1972, Clean Water Action works for clean, affordable, safe drinking water, safe and healthy products, protection of the Great Lakes and all Michigan’s waters, and on campaigns to solve community and environmental problems.
