E-M:/ Alternative Gift Fair this Sunday

This Sunday, December 2 from noon - 2 pm the Crossroads Group of the Sierra Club will be participating in an alternative gift fair, The Care and Share Fair, at the BECC (the Brighton Education & Community Center), 125 S. Church Street, Brighton.   We will be offering beautiful 2008 Sierra Club calendars; 100% organic, made in the US long sleeved t-shirts celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Michigan Sierra Club; backpacks, and SIGG water bottles as well as the opportunity to donate directly to the Sierra Club’s missions.

The Community Unitarian Universalists in Brighton are sponsoring this event to offer an alternative to the materialism of the holiday.  All of the organizations participating will be offering items for purchase and/or gifts of a donation that will directly benefit the programs offered by that organization.

In addition to the Sierra Club, Heifer International, Last Chance Rescue (pet adoption – they will have kittens for viewing), Michigan Peace Team, Starcross Community, Ten Thousand Villages, The Connection (a homeless shelter for youth), and other charities will be there.

Refreshments, music and other ideas for simplifying the holidays will be part of the festivities.

Come and support great causes and give a gift to be proud of this holiday season.

The very least you can do in your life is to figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof.
