KALAMAZOO— On Dec 8th, local citizens will join Greenpeace to highlight the need for congressional action on global warming. Children, young adults, and parents will gather at the Arcadia Creek Festival grounds to create a human outline of Michigan with a special aerial message to Congressman Fred Upton – “Our Future is in your hands. Stop Global Warming.” Photos will be taken from a 40-ft. crane and delivered to the Congressman along with a "Holiday Wish-List" to show that Michigan families want him to take action on this urgent issue.

In addition to the event in Kalamazoo, activists at demonstrations around the world will call on their leaders during an International Day of Action on global warming. The events will shine a bright light on the next phase of international agreements to limit global warming emissions in Bali, Indonesia, a process from which the U.S. absent from playing a key role.

*WHAT*: “Our Future is in Your Hands” Aerial Artwork
*WHERE:* Arcadia Creek Festival Place – 145 E Water St.
*WHEN:* Saturday, December 8 at 1:30 pm
*WHY*: Global warming is undoubtedly the greatest environmental threat facing the planet today. According to a series of reports released throughout 2007 by the Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and again supported by their report issued last month, the impacts of global warming are already being felt and immediate action is needed.

A strong mandate in Bali is a first critical step towards the negotiation of essential agreements that can peak emissions by 2015. Without this step the world cannot have confidence that the international community is seriously tackling this issue.
