Job Description and Qualifications
-Outreach and Education Coordinator-
The Flint River Watershed Coalition, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is seeking an outreach and education coordinator to assist our organization in its mission to protect, preserve and improve the Flint River and its Watershed.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Educational program coordination
- Establishing and facilitating grassroots projects throughout the watershed
- Event planning
- General community outreach
- Identification of grant opportunities
- Limited clerical duties
- Assist Executive Director with other duties, as needed
Educational Requirement:
Degree in environmental science, natural resource management or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Knowledge of basic water resource management and watershed related issues is mandatory.
Mandatory Qualifications and Skills:
- Exceptional communication skills
- Experience speaking to large and small groups of varying ages and expertise
- Experience with project and/or event planning
- Ability to coordinate a variety of projects concurrently
- Ability to work both independently and as a trusted team member
- Basic computer skills
Beneficial Knowledge or Skills:
- Experience with community organizing
- Advanced knowledge of water resource management
- Experience working with environmental groups and issues
- Advanced computer skills (GIS, website programming, etc)
- Grant writing experience
- Knowledge of the watershed management planning process
- Experience in environmental education
- Experience with biological and/or chemical water quality monitoring.
Salary: $30,000
35-40 hour work week, flexible schedule, ability to work occasional nights and weekends mandatory.
