While the trout fishing season is still months away, 2008 should prove to be an interesting one for anglers -- particularly those who fish below Hodenpyl dam on the Manistee River.

Consumers Energy has been working on a way to cool river water spilling from the dam which has exceeded the temperature requirements in their federal operating license. The warm summer waters have had an adverse impact on the survival of resident brown and rainbow trout as well 50,000 browns and rainbows planted each spring by the DNR.
