If you don't know about the Michigan Messenger, here's your introduction
to this excellent online newspaper.   I send this specific link because
it's interesting regarding environmental Mich. wrap-up news, and mentions
the state backed plan to turn Benton Harbor's Jean Klock park into a private golf course.

summary & recent news: Rev. Pinkney was originally arrested for initiating a recall
election of Whirlpool's point person on the BH city commission.  Of course
Judge Maloney had to (illegally) overturn the successful recall in order for the golf course
plans to continue.  And, Pinkney had to be "removed."  He now sleeps on a
hard floor in a 12x14 cell with 6 others.  Last Thursday he was taken to the
hospital for back and head examinations.   He's ok now.  Prisoners must stand
while eating. In a symbolic gesture, the mayor of BH visited him in jail last week.

Noted by Blackcommentator.com writer Larry Pinkney (no relation) last week:
This deliberate and racist harassment of Reverend Edward Pinkney
in the jail is OUTRAGEOUS!!! This must be disseminated far and wide.
This is precisely why it is important to contact the jail, the governor,
the courts, etc. about these outrages; otherwise they will continue and
get worse. These persons are not "just doing their jobs;" they are
criminally complicitous in the harassment of a wrongfully jailed and aging
Black American political activist--Reverend Edward Pinkney who is
courageously fighting for the human rights of the Black community of
Benton Harbor, Michigan. Plain and simple.

Mr. G. Bush recently appointed Maloney to Michigan's Western District bench...
the man who is considered chief architect of the racist operation known
as the Berrien County Courthouse in St. Joseph, Mich.

A prominent Michigan media figure stated privately last week that Gov.
Granholm is fully aware of everything going on in Berrien County -
Whirlpool's total control, that it's all about money, and that there
will be no jobs for BH residents at Harbor Shores playground for the
white elite, the construction of which is on-going without permits.
