   EPA HOSTS MEETING ON SAGINAW BAY ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES JAN. 31, 7 P.M.




   CHICAGO (Jan. 22, 2008) — U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Great
   Lakes National Program Office will host a meeting to update the
   public on a variety of environmental issues affecting Michigan’s
   Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron.  The meeting will be held from 7 to 9
   p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31.,  at Saginaw Valley University’s Curtiss
   Hall, Banquet Rooms A & B, 7400 Bay Rd., University Center, Mich.

   The meeting will bring the public up-to-date on issues affecting the
   bay including nutrient levels, invasive species, chemical
   contamination and EPA’s cleanup activities in the area. A
   question-and-answer session will follow presentations by EPA staff.

   Saginaw River and Bay has been identified as a Great Lakes “Area of
   Concern.” This international designation applies to very polluted
   areas along the shores of the Great Lakes.
