Energy Program Associate

 

The Michigan Environmental Council seeks an Energy Program Associate to advance policies aimed at climate protection and widespread deployment of clean energy technologies. 

Responsibilities

·                     Work with MEC staff and allies to advance low-carbon energy policy reforms.

·                     Represent MEC in various legislative, regulatory, business and advocacy forums.

·                     Initiate and strengthen creative partnerships to further MEC goals.

·                     Support Energy Program Director with research, policy analysis, administration and other duties as assigned.

·                     Write, edit and proofread documents such as briefing memos, committee testimony, newsletter articles, and web content.

  • Respond to media inquiries as appropriate.

Desired Qualifications

  • College degree(s) or equivalent experience.
  • Well-organized and able to simultaneously manage multiple projects and objectives.
  • Strong writing skills and excellent grammar.
  • Professional, amiable demeanor and positive attitude.
  • Solid grasp of current energy issues, including an understanding of the relative impacts of various technologies.
  • Professional experience in public policy analysis or advocacy.

Compensation & Related Matters

  • Salary commensurate with experience and skill set.
  • Paid vacation and health/dental insurance provided.

  • Position based in Lansing, Michigan.
  • Successful candidate will work under the direction of MEC Energy Program Director.
