What is LID?
The goal of Low Impact Development is to mimic a site's predevelopment
hydrology by using design techniques that infiltrate, filter, evaporate, and
detain runoff close to its source. LID provides stormwater benefits, such as
groundwater recharge and cleaner streams, and it also increases the urban
forest, reduces the urban heat island, improves air quality, reduces thermal
stream pollution, enhances community appearance, and provides a strong sense
of place.

Who Should Attend?
Planners, engineers, local officials, planning commissioners, and developers
interested in learning more about LID and the LID manual.

What will be discussed?
The new LID manual will be introduced. This will include presentations on:
1) Incorporating LID at the Community Level
2) Incorporating LID at the Site Level: the site design process and
structural/nonstructural BMPs
3) Developing LID Standards
4) Implementing LID on unique sites
5) Case Studies
