In the end, the issue of accurate vote counting can be an environmental
issue. In the 2004 presidential election, there were significant
discrepancies between the exit polls and the voting machine results. This
has ended up against environmental (and social) interests. Even if there
is no change in the vote tallies, disruption in targeted districts could
shift a close race.
