Snip: Contamination Advisory, Healthy Sign For Chemical Industry?
This letter from the editor in the current issue, C&EN, would be comical if it wasn't so sad. How could a negotiation that involves a childrens' park with a sign warning of contamination be a healthy sign for the chemical industry? The hard facts are in the actual article that talks about how Dow has the region over a barrel because of the jobs they offer the citizens. There is no reasonable tone when a company is responsible for contamination of our parks, horrible disease states and death. Does the area like many others across the nation need to be cleaned up? Of course. Should Dow be held responsible? Of course. Should the EPA be convicted of collusion to contaminate and cover it up? Of course.
