NOTICE: MI DEQ Air Permit
went to Public Comment today for the Holland James DeYoung Coal Plant
expansion. See below: Air Permit schedule beginning November 26th
and running through January 30, 2009. It is very disappointing
that this permit is being released the day before Thanksgiving and that the
entire comment period runs through a very busy
holiday season including Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years.
It is also disheartening that the Michigan Department of
Environmental Quality went ahead with this air permit comment period, despite a
major ruling from the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) Appeals Panel. On November 14th EPA Appeals
panel rejected a federal permit for the Technically, this EPA
Appeals panel ruling should stop all new coal plant permitting across the what to do next, and as to
how the Federal Clean Air Act will be used to control carbon dioxide. Nov 26th (Wed) Air Permit Comment Period begins
