It's a matter of scale, isn't it? We can extract energy from a number of low intensity sources (wind, solar, tidal - and this) and its counter effect upon the enironment will depend upon the extent of the deployment.
This has to be considered in any large-scale implementation.


In regard to a comment on the website, speaking of fish:

"Their muscle power alone could not propel them through the water at the speed they go, so they ride in each other's wake."

So, how does the lead fish do it?
