MEDIA ADVISORY

DNR Plans Public Meetings on Tri-Centennial State Park Development on
Jan. 14

The Department of Natural Resources will hold two public workshops on
Wednesday, Jan. 14, in Detroit to allow the public the opportunity to
provide input on the future of recreation development at Tri-Centennial
State Park and Harbor, which is located along the Detroit River between
Rivard and St. Aubin Streets.

The workshops will take place at 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Christ
Church of Detroit, Ledyard Hall, located at 930 E. Jefferson in Detroit.
Attendees should use the Woodbridge Street entrance. In the event of
severe weather, the workshops will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21.

"We are very interested in hearing from the citizens of Detroit about
the ideas they have for recreational uses for the park," said Ron
Olson, chief of the DNR's Parks and Recreation Division.
"Tri-Centennial is Michigan's only urban state park and it offers
many unique opportunities to Southeast Michigan residents and
visitors."

Persons attending the meeting are asked to RSVP, as seating is limited.
To RSVP, call 517-373-9900 or email SenkoL1@michigan.gov. Groups and
organizations are asked to limit their member participation to two
representatives to allow as many organizations and individuals the
chance to participate.

Persons who cannot attend the meetings may still share their comments
with the DNR by sending them by email to
DNR-Tri-Centennial@michigan.gov.

Light refreshments will be provided at the workshops by the Detroit
Riverfront Conservancy.

The DNR is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use
and enjoyment of the state's natural resources for current and future
generations.

NEWS EDITORS PLEASE NOTE: Ron Olson, chief of the DNR's Parks and
Recreation Division is available for interviews regarding these
workshops and the future of Tri-Centennial State Park and Harbor. Please
