The City of Romulus has invited Gov. Jennifer Granholm![]()
, Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin
and other officials to a town hall meeting March 30 to hear residents' concerns
about deep disposal wells.
Environmental Geo-Technologies, owned by Detroit businessman Jim Papas,
proposes to take over the wells, which were closed by state and federal
regulators in 2006 less than a year after they opened. The wells accepted
hazardous liquid waste from various companies, including some in Canada, and
leaked.
The state Department of
Environmental Quality is to decide whether to revoke old permits for the wells,
and the Environmental Protection
The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at Romulus City Hall, 1111 Wayne Road.
