Great Lakes Fishery Workshops Planned Across the State
Wondering what the catch will be like this year? Curious about Cormorant control? Find some answers at this year?s Great Lakes fishery workshops.
While the workshops are hosted annually, content is updated each year to reflect the current tide of fisheries in the Great Lakes. The workshops provide information for the general public, anglers, charter captains and natural resources professionals. New this year is an additional workshop focused on the Straits area in Northeast Michigan.

Topics will include:
· Who?s catching what and where? Nearshore and offshore fishing updates
· DNR law updates and discussion
· Lamprey Hunters Program: How to get involved
· Double Crested Cormorants: Management efforts and Straits area updates
· Status of Lake Trout management and rehabilitation efforts in Lake Michigan
· New this year: An opportunity for interactive feedback

And more. Each workshop has a unique agenda; check to see which topics will be covered.

Sea Grant has supported the annual fishery workshops for more than 30 years, during which thousands of stakeholders have learned about the dynamic Great Lakes fishery and resource managers have developed new fisheries management strategies based on the input received at the workshops.

Michigan Sea Grant helps to foster economic growth and protect Michigan?s coastal/Great lakes resources through education, research and outreach. A collaborative effort of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, Michigan Sea Grant is part of the NOAA-National Sea Grant network of more than 30 university-based programs.
