NATIONAL SEDIMENT CONFERENCE

On May 13 and 14 EPA's Office of Research and Development — National
Risk Management Research Laboratory  sponsored a National Conference on
Management and Treatment of Contaminated Sediments in Cincinnati.  The
conference was attended by about 300 people including representatives
from Federal and  State agencies as well as from the private sector. 
Dr. Marc Tuchman of U.S. EPA's Great Lakes National Program Office
presented a paper entitled "Solving Great Lakes Contaminated Sediment
Problems."  The presentation focused on activities ongoing in the Great
Lakes basin  leading towards the remediation of contaminated sediment
sites.
