POSITION VACANCY
University of Minnesota, Duluth
Department of Political Science
Public Policy, Environmental Policy
and Urban Politics
The Department of Political Science invites applications
for an entry level tenure-track position in public policy
analysis beginning September 1, 1998. Candidates should be
prepared to demonstrate strong teaching and research
interests in environmental policy and urban politics; those
with a specialization in water policy will be preferred. An
ABD in Political Science or a related discipline is
required. A Ph.D in Political Science or a related
discipline is preferred. At present, this position involves
teaching six quarter-courses a year. These would include:
one or two sections of Introduction to American Government;
other offerings might include existing courses on
Environmental Politics, Public Policy, Public
Administration, Urban Government and Politics, and the
senior seminar on Public Policy. We particularly encourage
applicants who can develop new courses on environmental
policy and water policy. The successful candidate will also
be expected to pursue a research agenda in his or her area
of expertise and to contribute to the development of the
Department's role in the Environmental Studies and the
Urban and Regional Studies programs, as well as the Center
for Public Policy and Ethics and the Natural Resources
Research Institute's Center for Water and the Environment.
A letter of application, vita, writing sample, graduate
transcripts, and at least three letters of reference are
required; teaching evaluations, and course materials are
very strongly encouraged. Send all application materials to
