**REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS**
Funding Available for Volunteer River Cleanup Activities
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) is requesting
proposals to implement volunteer cleanup activities along river
"corridors" in Michigan.
The MDEQ Request for Proposals (in Word format) can be found at:
Projects should focus on trash and debris removal, but can also
include habitat improvement, bank stabilization, tree planting,
vegetative cover installation, and other similar actions.
Grant amounts are limited to the $2000-$5000 range and require a
50% match of non-state funds (in kind services are not eligible for
match). Funding is from the Michigan Areas of Concern RAP
Program (Surface Water Quality Division) and a total of $50,000 is
available for distribution, of which at least 30% is to go to non-AOC
A single page application form is provided to make application
easy. Applications are due February 18, 1998, and the grant
money will be available to successful applicants on April 1, 1998.
Feel free to distribute the RFP to others that might be interested.
