Energy Project Coordinator

Clean Water Action Alliance (CWAA) of Minnesota is seeking a full time
Energy Project Coordinator at its Minneapolis, Minnesota office.  The
Alliance is a coalition of 25 environmental, social justice and labor
organizations and over 70,000 individual members.  The Alliance is a state
chapter of Clean Water Action, a national organization which has, for the
past 25 years, developed and passed strong environmental policies at the
state and federal levels, while building the grassroots environmental
movement.  Clean Water Action Alliance organizes citizens at the local level
in Minnesota, lobbies for strong laws and their enforcement, and elects
environmental majorities at all levels of government.  The Alliance brings
together diverse groups to win campaigns for sensible waste policies,
natural resource protection and pollution prevention.  With professional
field and phone canvasses, the Alliance reaches over 200,000 Minnesotans
each year to educate and activate the public on critical issues.

 The desired candidate will have experience working on environmental policy
issues and on implementation of grassroots-based organizing campaigns.  The
primary focus of the Project Coordinator's work will be implementation of
the Sustainable Energy for Economic Development Project, which focuses on
promotion of clean, renewable energy resources, policy research and advocacy
on pollution threats from coal-fired power plants, and community organizing
to support a transition away from coal and nuclear energy in Minnesota.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Policy research and formulation on priority energy issues.
Coordination of grassroots campaigns and media work.  Government relations
with the legislature and environmental agencies.  Coordination with phone
and field outreach staff.  Development of reports and other promotional
materials to support issues campaigns.  Work with allied organizations and
coalitions supporting CWAA's energy priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience working with the public and with government on
environmental policy issues.  Experience coordinating grassroots issues
campaigns.  Fundraising experience.  Excellent communications and writing
skills.  Ability to work with a diverse staff and constituency.  Ability to
travel in Minnesota.    Ability to work independently and as a team on issue
and political campaigns.  B.S. or greater in environmental science, policy
or political science highly desirable.  

COMPENSATION: Salary in the thirties depending on experience.  Excellent
benefits.

key constituencies at the grassroots level on key energy issues.
Identifying new citizen leaders and allies to support CWAA's work towards
the energy transition. Assisting with media work on energy issues.
Coordination of organizing work with phone and field outreach staff.
Development of campaign support and training materials. Working with allied
organizations and coalitions supporting CWAA's energy priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Community or campaign organizing experience.  Familiarity
working with the public and with government on environmental policy issues.
Excellent communications and writing skills.  Ability to work with a diverse
staff and constituency.  Ability to travel in Minnesota.    Ability to work
independently and as a team on issue and political campaigns.  B.S. or
greater in environmental science, policy or political science highly
desirable.  

COMPENSATION: Salary in the mid-twenties depending on experience.  Excellent
benefits.
