The Great Lakes Panel on Aquatic Nuisance Species is pleased to announce
that the “Model Comprehensive State Management Plan for the Prevention
and Control of Nonindigenous Aquatic Nuisance Species” is online at:
http://www.glc.org/projects/ans/modelsmp.html. This document can also
be accessed through GLIN's Exotic Species page at
http://www.great-lakes.net/envt/exotic/exotic.html. We encourage full
use of the model plan as guidance in developing comprehensive state
management plans and/or as a resource for other purposes.

The Model Comprehensive State Management Plan is a product of the
workshop, Aquatic Nuisance Species and Coastal Management Programs:
Toward a Regional Strategy in the Great Lakes Basin, held in May of 1995
in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Copies of the workshop proceedings are available at the Great Lakes
Commission for a cost of $10.00. If interested, please contact
Katherine Glassner-Shwayder, project manager, phone: 734-665-9135, or
email: shwayder@glc.org. The entire proceedings document will be
available online later this summer.

The Great Lakes Panel, convened under section 1203 of the Nonindigenous
Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act of 1990, is comprised of 35
members from the Great Lakes region. Representation includes, federal,
state and provincial governments, binational agencies, tribal
authorities, environmental organizations, commercial and private user
groups.
