GLTF FYI - Appropriations
News from the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee markups:
Agriculture -
Conservation Operations Total - $638 million
Specific language marking $0.35 million (level funding) for
the Great Lakes Basin Program for Soil Erosion and Sediment
Control. This is equal to the GLTF request.
VA, HUD and Independent Agencies (EPA) -
Clean Water SRF - $1.4 billion - equal to FY 1998 and above the
President's request ($1.075 billion).
Drinking Water SRF - $800 million (FY 1998 at $725 million)
Section 106 Water Quality Grants - $100 million (+$5 million over
FY 1998 but not the complete President's Clean Water Initiative
Request of $115.5 million).
Section 319 Water Quality Grants - $155 million (+50 million over
FY 1998 but not the complete President's Clean Water Initiative
Request of $195 million).
Great Lakes National Program Office - $1.38 million above
President's request (restores FY 1998 funding level at GLTF
request).
ATSDR - $74 million ($10 million above President's request) but
apparently earmarks only $2 million (FY 1998 $2.5 million, GLTF
request #3 million) for the Great Lakes Fish Consumption Study.
Disposition of additional funds not clear in draft.
Pollution Prevention Grants to States - apparently at the
President's request of level funding ($6 million).
Dispersal Containment Analysis - apparently not funded.
Full Senate Committee Markups for both these bills are scheduled for
6/11.
