                            PUBLIC LAKES WORKSHOPS

Treasures Under Pressure:
The Future of Northeastern Minnesota Lakes

Dates: Friday, September 11 at the Best Western Edgewater East in Duluth, or
Saturday, September 12 at Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids.

Northeastern Minnesota is blessed with a wealth of beautiful, healthy lakes.
Now it's time to take a good look at these blue gems and make some decisions on
how best to keep them healthy for the long run. Lakes in Northeastern Minnesota
are experiencing some of the same development and use pressures that lakes in
other more populated areas of the state have seen for years. How will we deal
with these pressures and uses?

The University of Minnesota Sea Grant Program is leading an effort to bring
people interested in Northeastern Minnesota lakes together to define issues and
to generate ideas for solutions. Two separate public workshops will be held in
Duluth and Grand Rapids.

Come talk about your concerns and hear the concerns of others. Share your
hopes, ideas and plans for the future of Northeastern Minnesota lakes. Learn
from lake experts about how to maintain the quality of our lakes and fisheries.

A nominal registration fee will be charged. Space is limited. For more
information or to pre-register, contact Keith Anderson, Minnesota Sea Grant,
1-800-455-4526, e-mail: kanderson1@extension.umn.edu.
