GLIN SITE OF THE MONTH for October: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
Great Lakes-Big Rivers Region
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is the principal federal agency
responsible for conserving, protecting, and enhancing fish and wildlife
and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.
The Great Lakes-Big Rivers Region includes the states of Illinois,
Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin.
The region manages 1.2 million acres in refuge land and water on 46
national wildlife refuges and nine wetland management districts,
including more than 240,000 acres in waterfowl production areas. Visit
the Region 3 web site to learn about endangered species in your state
or county (includes fact sheets and photos), view statewide maps of
national wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries, and comment on current
planning initiatives underway in the region.
And have a "Fabulous Fall"! Check out GLIN's updated tourism section to
make your color tour plans. Includes links to current color reports from
each state, as well as information on bicycling, hiking, festivals,
hunting and much more.
