Job: Biologist, Maine DEP

Biologist II: Lakes Assessment Unit (935206)  $29,619-40,643/yr
The Maine  Department of Environmental Protection seeks to recruit a
Biologist II to   join our Lakes Assessment team. Duties will include a
broad range of  work, including investigations of lake watershed-water
interactions and internal processes, habitat evaluations, field
monitoring and assessment, and special projects or research on questions
related to lake water quality. The position will have primary
responsibility for devising and applying an approach to Diagnostic
Feasibility Studies of water quality limited lakes (TMDLs as required
under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act).  This will include
coordination with the Division of Watershed Management and other agencies
to develop lake-specific TMDL's.  Other projects may include developing
and applying methods for water quality trend detection in lakes or
evaluating the potential of shallow lakes for aerobic phosphorus

Candidates must have experience with TMDL development or Diagnostic
Feasibility studies on lakes or should have professional experience in
modeling lake processes and evaluating lake watershed/water quality
interactions. (Candidates do not have to be  "Biologists" by training: we
are looking for the above experience which could be provided by a variety
of professional backgrounds with experience in assessment of lakes
processes, primarily trophic responses.)
