High-speed rail meeting in Chicago

The Environmental Law and Policy Center of the Midwest, the Federal Railroad
Administration, the High Speed Ground
Transportation Association, and Amtrak will sponsor a press conference and
day-long seminar on the rail-related and intermodal provisions (including
high speed rail and Maglev) of the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st
Century (TEA-21) on January 28, 1999 in Chicago, IL. At the press
conference, to be held at 11:00, state and federal representatives will
discuss the Midwest Regional Rail Initiative. Participation is expected from
Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson, former Massachusetts Governor Michael
Dukakis, Minnesota Congressman James Oberstar, Secretary of Transportation
Rodney Slater, and Amtrak President George Warrington. Click here to learn
