GLIN==> NEMW/Great Lakes Hill Update - Appropriations

     Latest information has been posted to the GLTF website (www.nemw.org then 
select "Great Lakes" "Congressional Updates").  

        Information posted includes the House Subcommittee markup of the Energy 
and Water Appropriations bill (Army Corps of Engineers programs).  Information 
on the full committee markup (scheduled for today) should be posted later this 
week.


        The House passed its Interior Appropriations bill last week (7/14) with 
no changes made to the Great Lakes provisions.  Rep. Ehlers offered and withdrew
an amendment which would have provided additional funding ($422,000) to the Fish
and Wildlife Service to initiate the grants program authorized under the Great 
Lakes Fish and Wildlife Restoration Act of 1998.

        Interior Appropriations and Commerce, Justice, State & Judiciary 
Appropriations may come to the Senate floor later this week.
